Dear future INORMS delegate

The Danish Association for Research Managers and Administrators (DARMA) are proud to host the INORMS2012 congress. This is the fourth INORMS congress which is held biannually, and the previous venues have been Brisbane, Liverpool and Cape Town.

The congress will take place on 13-16 May 2012 in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Tivoli Congress Center.

The timing could not be more perfect! Denmark will hold the presidency of the European Union in the first six months of 2012, where all major decisions concerning the next European framework programme will be taken. The INORMS congress will cover this extensively and focus on the administrative and managerial side and with a special emphasis on simplification.

The changing landscape and increased competition poses constant challenges for us as a profession and new ways to work with our constituency is in heavy demand. The merging of research and innovation agendas and the focus on grand, societal challenges are just two examples.

We believe that major, political changes on such a large scale can only be implemented and realized by dedicated and competent individuals. Everything starts and stops with individuals. This is the reason why we have chosen a space voyage as a vision for our congress. A trip into space is only possible if you combine individuals with complementary competences, solid organizational structures and the necessary funding.
This will be clearly illustrated by the keynote speaker. The congress will be organized into three tracks. Each time slot will present 2 sessions for each track. Thus, there are six concurrent sessions at any time and each session is expected to last 60 minutes. A total of 72 sessions and 12 3-hour workshop are on offer, and you can submit an expression of interest, it you want to apply for the opportunity to present at a session or a workshop. Please fill in the wordtemplate to this effect, and mail it to darma@darma.dk by 1 November 2011 at the latest. You can also submit an expression of interest to present a poster. The deadline is 1 November 2011 as well.

The three session tracks are:

MAN: This track focuses on us as individuals. The sessions will focus on professional development, examples of best practice, career development, new skills and related types of sessions.

MACHINE: This track focuses on the teams and organizations we work in at various levels. Compliance, ethics, knowledge and technology transfer, innovation, decision making support could be examples.

MEANS: This track focuses on funding issues and infrastructures on a very broad scope. Conditions for funding and how to work with funders should be covered in these sessions.

It is now up to you to suggest topics and speakers. Help us make this a memorable event.
